What a Day!

Sunday was our first Mother's Day.

It was also the day of Ben's Bris Ceremony. Aside from the actual procedure, it was a beautiful, heartfelt occasion. The Mohel is a pediatric surgeon, so I felt a bit more comfortable with the goings on. He led a beautiful ceremony and, given Ben's history, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. This ceremony is typically held 8 days after a baby boy is born. Ben's Bris was 54 days after he was born, 9 days before his due date.

After the actual procedure, the Mohel led a naming ceremony. Both Nick and I told Ben(and our families) about the people he is named after:

Benjamin was my paternal Grandfather's name.
Placido was Nick's father's name.
Ben's hebrew name is Meir (pronounced Mayor) for my maternal Grandfather Max.

As with most Jewish ceremonies, afterwards we ate!

We had a delicious brunch featuring (but of course) noodle kugel.
